The plight of the military spouse has received a great deal of attention these past several months. Everyone from Jill Biden and the First Lady to corporate spokespeople have been weighing in with their prescription for military spouse employment.
One often overlooked resource is a military benefit called Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts, which offers up to $4,000 toward an associate degree, certification or licensure program in a “portable degree field” for a military spouse. Unfortunately, the MyCAA program does not include Coast Guard spouses as of today.
This program can help military spouses gain education and professional certification in some in-demand portable fields like accountancy, human resources and graphic design without the additional financial burden.
Details about the MyCAA program can be found here.
